Marvin’s Dog Hauling Tips
Any time I haul a dog or pup there are a few things I do to make the trip easier on the dogs. This way, when the dogs are dropped off with their new owners, they are in a healthy condition and the new owners are happy!
- I like to get water from the person shipping the dog, this way the dog has water he’s familiar with and won’t dehydrate during the trip.
- Have the shipper provide dog food the dogs have been eating and are familiar with.
- Be sure to have extra bedding for the dog in case they get sick or go to the bathroom in their crate.
- I have been told, and also have tried this with success, if you feed pups 2 ginger snap crackers they’re not as likely to get sick during hauling.
- I never like to get a pup out of my vehicle in a area where other dogs have been. A young dog can get sick from diseases that may be present in these places.
- You should never get a dog out of his crate during hauling without some kind of leash on them. Or, a long rope if you’re wanting to let them play.
